Shyqri Nimani (1941–2023) was a renowned Albanian artist, pioneer of graphic design, and scholar known for his outstanding contribution to visual arts, graphic design, and national culture. With a career spanning several decades, he played a key role in the development of modern art in Kosovo and the region.

After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, he specialized in graphic design, becoming one of the pioneers of this field in Kosovo. He pursued postgraduate studies in Japan, where he was influenced by the aesthetics and artistic traditions of the country, an influence that enriched his creative work.

Shyqri Nimani was the first director of the National Gallery of Kosovo, helping establish a key institution for visual arts in the country. He also founded the Graphic Design Department at the University of Prishtina, shaping generations of artists and designers.

One of the most significant moments of his career was his calligraphy of the Declaration of Independence of Kosovo in 2008, a historic document that remains a powerful national symbol.

His final work, The Monograph “Albanians and Serbs – The Truth Versus Untruth,” was published posthumously in 2024, representing a testament to his dedication to history and culture. His lifelong commitment to art, design, and national heritage makes him an unforgettable figure in Albanian cultural history.
